Really. Do you know?
No, not meaning you don't know who I am (we'll come to more about me later, but really, apart from knowing I'm rather good at writing to help get health & wellness clients, it's not about me).
It's not about you either (sorry!).
It's about ... them! Yes. THEM! Who? Well, exactly. Do you know who you're talking to?
Having a really good idea of who you're trying to attract to your service or product means you can have a really meaningful conversation with them.
Tip number 1
Writing down features of your ideal client can help uncover lots of different things about them that may make your sales pitch more personal to them.
In marketing-land they're called "avatars". No. Not tall blue people!
I create avatars for clients when I'm writing blog calendars. Yes, a calendar! I schedule blogs around who my clients are (oh, hello you!) so I can make sure my message is heard by the right people.
Recently I created a lovely avatar for a client, to use with their client. I even downloaded a picture from the internet so I gave "Intuitive Eating Irma" a face.
I then wrote up all I could about Intuitive Eating Irma. What she's like, who influences her, what her values are, what words she uses, what turns her off, what her fears are.
Having over 20 years as a dietitian really helps me write these avatars.
Tip number 2
Don't forget the clients you want to attract are maybe not the clients you have already. Writing up avatars for clients you want will help you talk directly to them.
Now you do know who you're talking to! You know them, you've written down all you can think about them.
You know them, you've written down all you can think about them. You know what makes them tick.
Now talk to them. Use their words. Their concerns. What influences them.
Now you make it personal.
