How to coach website visitors from strangers to fans - using this one simple behaviour change strategy
Helping people make changes is something that health & wellness professionals are more than familiar with.
Whether it's one-on-one, in a group or online, it's often a core part of what we do.
But have you thought about using this knowledge to market your business?
Why strangers need to become fans?

In the way-back-when, we were taught something called the 'Transtheoretical Model of Behaviour Change'.
Too many long words, we called it the 'stages of change', as in DiClemente and Prochaskas ... stages of change. You can read more about the stages of change here.
The stages of change theory assumes that people are in one of 6 stages:
For example from contemplation to relapse to preparation and back to relapse

Think of where you clients may be within these stages of change?
They might be at different stages depending on your relationship with them.
How they find you may also determine the stage that they're at
From stranger to fan
Your website or services leaflet is a great place to demonstrate how the stages of change model can be used to coach strangers into being fans of your service or products.
Your home page assumes that the stranger is outside the stages (not aware they need to change), in pre-contemplation or in contemplation stages.
Action to take:
Your 'About' page should draw them closer, reinforcing the need for change and giving them encouragement to move them from pre-contemplation, contemplation and preparation to action.

By the time they reach your sales page, all you need is a summary of the information you've given them already on your home and about pages to remind them why change is good, and how you can help them.
Then it's focusing on how your service or product can help them take action, maintain the changes and prevent relapses.
By recognising where your clients are in the stages of change model, you can nurture them through from becoming strangers to fans.
