Oh here she goes again. Blowing her own trumpet! No! Nothing like that!
I'm going to share a little nugget of experience about how you can write the best blog in the world ... ever!
For a long time (surprisingly long considering the total lack of feedback I got), my most favourite business ‘tasks’ was always writing blogs. But the enjoyment soon faded when despite my best efforts when I published my paragraphs of knowledge and insight, it was met with nothing.
I soon relegated blog writing to one of my least favourite tasks. Along with toilet cleaning and dusting (you know where I’m coming from don’t you?!).
After all, why should I spend so much time on something that seemed to go nowhere, and help no one?
And that made it even easier for my blog-writing habit to become sporadic at best. Which meant that my tribe of happy subscribers were even further from my reach. (Sad face).
Do you see a pattern happening here? Oh, by the way, this goes round and round in circles (ever decreasing circles!).
Here's the thing.
Everything you do on your website, blog or in your newsletter should focus on one thing. Attracting clients!
This time I'm going to share about promoting your talents, rather than the words you use to talk with your clients (and wanna-be clients).
A blog is information, experiences, alerts that you want to share with your clients.
In return you want something from them.
The most useful piece of information you can get from them is their email address.
This is how you can build your community.
There's a few things that every blog should contain.
Having these things will make your blog work, rather than just sit there (it may look cute and cuddly, but it needs to help close the deal).
Information is great, but looking at your 'likes' doesn't necessarily reflect on how you're really connecting with clients and wanna-be clients.
Calling them to an action, and an action you can measure (sign ups, downloads) shows you how you're really connecting.
Which ever blog platform you use, make sure you're publicising your blog in places your clients are going to be.
This is where to use your Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest etc accounts to full advantage. Give your community an opening hook of a title. Give them the link. Tell them about the CTA.
It's hard getting people off FB so make it worth their while!
So, those are some of the thing I learned about how to make my blog, regardless of the topic, amaze-balls rather than dust-balls.
If you're part of my email community, you'll find in your in-box (remember to add me to your address book so I don't chillax in the spam folder!) my super-sized guide to writing the best blog ever.
Seven pages of how-to and a mock-up blog showing you how you can really do this so easily.
If you're not part of my community (yet!) then sign up right here and you'll get the best blog in the world ever download too!
Great to have you on board!
